Hello! My name is Jen Wight and my family and I have lived in Arlington for 19+ years. I am an avid dog lover, owner and have walked dogs professionally both through WAG and ROVER. I have two beautiful dogs of my own and have been known to take in a friend's dog (or two) while they go on vacation.
It has been my lifelong dream to have a career working with dogs.
You may have noticed that there has been a pandemic puppy-boom in this area.
What will happen to all these wonderful pet additions once things go back to normal and owners return to work and/or school?
A sweet, well-behaved dog can turn into a real wolf without their daily attention and exercise.
That's why I started The Whispering Wolf
Doggie Pick Up & Play Service.
I want to provide the people of Arlington with an option for their dogs to play while they have to be away.
Dogs are monitored and matched by size, activity level, and age.
It can be stressful to leave your pet. We have a genuine love for dogs, which is why we are happy to give your furry friend the love and attention they need when you simply can't. Please reach out. We will get back to you soon.

VACCINE RECORDS AND TEMPERAMENT ASSESSMENT
Dogs must be up to date on their distemper, rabies, canine influenza, and kennel cough vaccines. They also must have a recent fecal and heartworm test with negative results. Prior to your furry friend's first playdate, we ask that you send us a vaccine report from your vet.
In playgroups of six to eight, the dogs spend their session running and playing outside. Playgroups are split first by size, then by play style and age. This ensures the safety and comfort of all of the dogs. Individual play is available for those dogs that prefer to be alone, but space is limited and must be arranged in advance.
Prior to their first visit, your dog's temperament will be assessed by one of our pack leaders in an individual meet & greet. Ideally, we want to see your dog eagerly greeting us and other dogs. What we don’t want to see is any dominant behavior, growling or aggressive posturing. It’s important that all dogs in the communal play atmosphere are ready to have fun. If your dog is not suited for this kind of atmosphere, it does not mean you have a bad dog. Some dogs are just less inclined to play with other dogs - just like some humans.
Intact dogs over the age of 8 months CANNOT participate.
Intact dogs (both males and females) can disrupt a peaceful play environment.
WHAT NEGATIVE BEHAVIORS?
– Leg-lifting and marking.
– Fixation on a non-dominant usually smaller dog: Think how you would feel having a large stranger follow you around constantly and not providing you any space!
– Excessive Humping: Self-explanatory, but when an intact dog humps the wrong dog it leads to fighting.
– Tennis ball and water bowl aggression: Chances are when a fight breaks out over a tennis ball or a water dish an intact dog is usually at the center.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOUR DOG IS BAD!
On the contrary, your dog is lovely and we adore them, however, 7 months is the age dogs reach their sexual maturity, as recognized by most veterinarians.
ADDITIONAL REASONS:
– Intact males and females pose a risk of unwanted pregnancy!
– Intact females can cause fighting among competitive suitors whether the suitors are intact or not. They just smell THAT good.
